The number of people in Cheadle constituency receiving Jobseekers Allowance (JSA) is now 540, a 40% decrease over the past year – it is clear that Liberal Democrat plans for economic recovery are working.

Candidate Mark Hunter said the figures come as a major boost to local people, proving that Liberal Democrats are helping people return to work.

Commenting, Mark Hunter said:

“40% more people back in work is a fantastic achievement for Cheadle constituency but there is no complacency.  It is my ambition that there are good jobs for everyone that wants one in our communities, and we are moving towards that goal.

“Cheadle constituency is well placed to take advantage of the improving national economic picture, and I will continue to do what I can to encourage inward investment and job creation.”

Vince Cable added:

“With record numbers of people back into work and the highest employment rate ever – Britain is the engine driver of the European economic recovery.

“Our balanced, common sense, fairness and financial discipline, praised by the IMF, are the things Liberal Democrats have brought to government."
